Intermetaverse

We started the Intermetaverse group in Second Life. It is an interest group on the integration of different Metaverse technologies like Second Life itself and Croquet. The idea to create this group started on the croquet-dev mailing list. To participate, join croquet-dev and the Intermetaverse group in Second Life (open enrollment: in Second Life, search group Intermetaverse and join). A workspace for the group is in preparation at uvvy island.

The image above (a Second Life avatar in a basic Croquet world) is of course a fake, but the concept is enabling some kind of interoperability between different Metaverses. Croquet is an open source project, and Second Life is on its way to become one. The Second Life client is already open source, and a committment to make also server technology open source has been stated. Then of course there is the Open Second Life project (its logo is on the t-shirt of the avatar above), which in time may produce an open source, fully operational equivalent of the Second Life server.

We had a first meeting in Second Life - in the picture above Kaan Tornado, Giulio Perhaps (yours truly) and Synthalor Mandelbrot.
