OA Metaverse

The OA Metaverse project, previously indicated as Project X on this website, was announced at TransVision 2006. The OA Metaverse is a VR world (MMOG, or Metaverse) under conceptual development. See the dedicated OAM wiki at:
The concept and business model will have some similarities to Entropia Universe. The OA Metaverse will be set in a mature "hard" science fictional scenario based on current scientific thinking with realistic extrapolations. The background universe has been built by science fiction and technology experts with a sound, quality controlled approach, in compliance with today's scientific knowledge. The game will attract hard SF fand and include features of educational games, or serious games. At the same time, The OA Metaverse will also appeal to the majority of gamers used to conventional quests, RPG and FPS games. There will be something for everyone.
As far as the technology platform upon which the OA Metaverse will be built is concerned, we are performing a trade-off analysis of suitable game engines, specialized game engines for MMOGs (MMOG engines), and component technologies.
Candidate technology platforms, in current order of preference:
- Multiverse
- BigWorld
- Gamebryo (used for Entropia Universe)
- Flux and future X3D engines
- Uni-verse is an interesting development to watch
- C4 may be used for prototyping
