Second Life Museum of Future History
The Second Life Museum of Future History will open on uvvy island in Second Life at the end of January 2007.
The ground floor is dedicated to the history of the 21st century, the upper floor to the rest of the 3rd millennium and beyond.
Future history: of course we don't have a crystal ball to predict the future. In place of the crystal ball we use our disciplined imagination and extrapolations from current trends. The Museum has been designed in collaboration with professional futurists interested in future technology, society and politics. Some of our forecasts and not very "conservative" and verge on Transhumanism.
On the museum floor there are displays of our forecasts. Some displays are linked via teleport to more detailed presentations in dedicated spaces in the three red towers above the building.
Displays have color-coded spheres: blue spheres for technology, green for society and red for politics. The size of a sphere is proportional to the estimated impact of the event described (moderate - fair - high). Most spheres are semi-transparent, but some have solid colors. Spheres with solid colors permit teleporting to detailed presentations in the red towers (right click on sphere).
The detailed presentations use a "3D PPT -like technique".
